Renae & Calisto

Heath met Renae in unfortunate circumstances following an injury which prevented her riding for several months. There was, as always, a silver lining; Heath was able to work consistently with Calisto during Renae's rehabilitation. This afforded an opportunity to redefine Calisto's expectations of the human and that of him. His improved foundation allowed a smooth transition for Renae's eventual return to the saddle.

I bought my horse Calisto when he was two years old in 2000. He is a big, beautiful and strong Andalusian with a cheeky but kind personality.

I always felt confident in the saddle but he always pushed me around on the ground and I had a bad experience in the round yard so I was not confident at all to do any groundwork with him. We had managed to get by for 14 year this way. One day my friend suggested I contact Heath as he worked wonders with her horse in the round yard.

In June 2014 I slipped over at work and broke my kneecap in half.

Heath was so kind and offered to work with Calisto every weekend until I got back on my feet. He spent hours and hours with him in the round yard educating him so I could handle him when I was better. After 4 months I was finally able to drive and start my lessons. Heath also spent hours with me teaching me how to handle Calisto. I needed re training and also needed to rebuild my confidence after the injury. Heath always made it so easy and simple to understand and was extremely patient and caring and it was so obvious how much Calisto enjoyed being handled by him.

I developed so much more confidence during these lessons and went on to riding, jumping and having fun with in in the round yard on my own. Heath was always available for any questions and was always so encouraging. Even in the most recent time when sadly Calisto has become retired due to led injuries, Heath still took time out to come and see him and provide help and support.

I would absolutely recommend Heath to anyone who needs help with their horse and if ever I need help with Calisto or any other horse in the future Heath is the one who I’ll be calling.
