1ST PRINCIPLES HORSEMANSHIP CLINIC

Foster adaptability in your horsemanship by gaining exposure to the challenges faced by other people and their horses during our 1st Principles Clinic. Gathering just 8-12 people, 1st Principles offers the perfect balance between independent and group learning. We set the scene for future advancement by focussing on the establishment and reinforcement of your horses’ foundation, all within a supportive and encouraging group dynamic.

The 1st Principles clinic is split into two sessions; Groundwork and Ridden Work. Each session introduces fundamental exercises to strengthen athleticism regardless of any intended discipline.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If cancelling up to 60 days prior to the start of a clinic, participants are eligible for a 50% refund. Unfortunately we cannot refund any fees if cancellations are made less than 60 days prior to the start of a clinic.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip the groundwork session?

The Groundwork session introduces key concepts to prepare you and your horse for the afternoon Ridden session. It is recommended this session is not missed.

Can I use a different horse for each session?

No. The Groundwork session prepares your horse for later work under saddle. Using a different horse in the afternoon session would limit progression.

Can I fence sit?

Yes. Spectators are welcome though not all venues have seating available. Clinics are designed for riders and we cannot guarantee spectators will have equivalent access. Please contact us to discuss fence sitting at upcoming clinics.

What if my clinic is rained out?

In the event a clinic is cancelled or postponed, participants will be eligible for a complete refund of the clinic particpation fee. Participants will also be offered priority placement for future clinics. We cannot, however, refund additional costs incurred i.e. accommodation, travel etc.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

Yes. Helmets must comply with the Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS3838 for horse riding and horse related activities.

What should I bring to the clinic?

As lessons are tailored to horse and rider Heath will contact you riding boots

  • A fitted helmet
  • 12ft lead rope and a fitted rope halter
  • Well fitted saddle, pad and correctly sized girth
  • A fitted bridle and snaffle bit
  • A smile (after all it’s meant to be fun)
  • Your horse (don’t forget this one!)
