a short HISTORY.
I started the first horse I’d ever owned under saddle. He wasn’t expensive though he cost me everything I could pull together at the time. While studying, I’d been working at a place not far from home, fixin’ fences and spraying weeds mostly. Looking back I couldn’t think of one way I might’ve spent that money better.
As a horseman, my early education came through a friend’s teaching, quiet but for the faint hum of an occasional Johnny Cash tune (Sunday Morning Coming Down). Some ways down the road at a vending machine about as far from the saddle as I’d ever care to be, I had a conversation with a girl about horses, life and the not so far between. I can’t recall the words spoken though I knew we shared more than a chocolate craving.
Well I must have got something right… we were to be married not too long after.
She afforded me the confidence to grow Hitch in ya’ Giddy Up. A positive, no-nonsense approach to horsemanship shared in the same quiet tradition of my own education (less the hazy cowboy slang). A warm history with a bright future… at least we think so anyway.
I hope you can join us for the ride.
